Coping With A Recent Breakup
Dealing With Breakup

It is difficult to cope with a breakup but we have ways to deal with it. Psychological Trauma and mental pain are the first symptoms of a broken heart. It is difficult to lose someone who you have loved so dearly and spent much time together. Friends and Family will say you will get over it soon but it is hard to believe when everything seems so damn depressing. Your mind is always fixed on him/her thinking, wondering and imagining what our life would have been if we have continued our relationship. Safe to say it wouldn’t have been much good either as circumstances leading to a breakup indicate problems that suggest incompatibility that will make the breakup inevitable. So what should we do, should we isolate ourselves to a dark room and keep a gloomy face for eternity?

The answer to this is no. Breakups are a part of our life that we must deal with it whether we like them or not. Getting rejected and being separated is worse than physical injuries as it takes much longer to heal. Thankfully we have a way of dealing with things and if we follow them we might end up feeling better and healing quickly.

What should we do post-breakup?

1) Getting rid of things that remind us of our partner:

It may seem a bit cruel at the first but trust me it will help you in the long run especially if you want to forget your partner completely. Should it be your contacts, photos, chats, gifts or other items that have been bought by your partner, Get rid of them all! They are traps that will awaken your memory fresh and bruise you again. If you have expensive items that were gifted no problem just put them in a locker and close the door. Forgetting and getting rid of our past is essential to move on as things that bind us will forever hold us in a depressive state

2) Stop thinking about him/her:

Okay, this is the hardest and most difficult of all I mean how can we forget someone who was once part of our love life. We shared our meals, shared the same bed and went out to places together. We have so many memories that forgetting them would require formatting our brains. Yet with practice and sheer determination, we can overcome our thought and perhaps engage them somewhere else where we can find peace.

3) Finding new Hobbies and Passions:

Were you interested in drawing or dancing before you meet your significant other, Well it might be time to work on your skills again. Hobbies will take your mind away from pain and could take it somewhere that you once loved or could love. Finding one’s passions and interest is exciting and now with time on your hands, you could find joy whether it may be taking a trip, going on holidays or hiking.

4) Finding love again:

First, take your time and ask yourself whether you are ready to move again. There is no hurry or rush that you must do it immediately. Finding the right person is difficult and time-consuming and you should make sure that you do not repeat the same mistakes you have made before. You must explore and meet new people to find out which one is right for you so you could finally move on from your ex forever.

Healing A Broken Heart

5) Finding self-love again:

This is the most important part. No one can love someone else if he does not love himself. Loving and respecting yourself is key to living a healthy and content lifestyle. You should not hate yourself for the actions of others and even if you have mistakes you should forgive yourself and start the process of healing and overcoming them.
